I believe that all children deserve to be educated. It is my belief that all children can learn and that each student has individual ways of learning which the teacher needs to cater for in their instruction.
I believe that all children should be given the opportunity to discover new ideas about the world in which they live and to experience diversity and other ways of being. Children should also have the opportunity to express and expose others to their own cultural and community beliefs in an inclusive educational setting. I believe that each child is unique and that individuality should be respected and celebrated.
I believe that it is important that holistic approaches are taken when educating children by taking into account all aspects of the child including their background, as it is my belief that a child’s background has significant influence on their learning. Due to this, I believe it is important for teachers, care-givers and the wider community to work together to educate children. I believe this can be achieved through open communication and respectful relationships.
I consider imagination and creativity to be an important part of education and it should be encouraged and nurtured in all children. Further to this belief, is my understanding that for learning to be successful, children need to be given the opportunity to be active participants in their learning in tasks that are meaningful and engaging.
I aim to support and encourage every child I teach and help them reach their goals and aspirations as well as continue to develop my knowledge and skills in the art of teaching.
“When students believe success is possible, they will try. If they don’t believe they can succeed, it doesn’t matter how easy the material or how smart the students, they will fail.” ….Lou-Anne Johnson
Teach students to believe in themselves, by first believing in them.
